The official website of the Neighborhood Empowerment Network (NEN)

The NEN is a collaboration of city agencies, non-profits, faith based organizations, academic institutions and local community stakeholders. Its goal is to empower neighborhoods to take leadership roles in stewarding their community to becoming cleaner, greener, healthier, more inclusive places to live and work.

The NEN will achieve this goal by developing a suite of resources and strategic partnerships that will help streamline stakeholder access to the tools necessary for achieving a sustainable level of resiliency in the face of any challenge as well as the capacity to leverage any opportunity.

So stay tuned and keep an eye open for future updates.

Registration is Now Open for the 2009 NEN Awards

The NEN Awards will be returning to City Hall on the evening of Wednesday, November 18th from 6 to 8:30pm. For those of you who were able to attend last years event, it was best described as inspirational (see photos).

This year many of the awards from last year will return, and a few new ones have been added to the mix. They include:

• Best "Green" Community Project
• Best Neighborhood Organization Website
• Best Graffiti Watch Volunteer Award
• Best Community Building Event
• Best Community Challenge Grant Project
• Comeback Neighborhood of the Year
• Best Prepared Neighborhood Watch
• Best Merchant Association / Business Improvement District
• The NEN Lifetime Achievement Award
• The NEN Hall of Fame
